One of the core pillars of our work centers around self-care and psychosocial wellbeing. The constant fear of house demolitions, land confiscations and arrests put us, our family members and the entire community under stress. The fear of losing the roof over our heads or loved ones has serious implications on ourselves, our family members and the community’s wellbeing. As we are the responsible caretakers of children and households under these dire conditions, we decided to be our own anchor and start taking care of ourselves, in order to sustain our steadfastness on this land under these severe circumstances. We have regular self-care days, in which we spend the day together as women and friends and expand our knowledge in different self-care strategies. We try to integrate these strategies into our daily lives to deal and cope with the stress. These include: stretching, breathing, anger management, next to other exercises and sharing circles.
